If you're a regular festival goer, you might have seen  some flash tattoos. These metallic-looking temporary stick ons serve as the inspiration for MIT Media Lab's latest innovation named DuoSkin. Their team recently uploaded a video to Vimeo showing the DuoSkin in action and how it allows its wearers to control digital devices. 

Designed in collaboration with Microsoft Research, the DuoSkin flash tattoos are made from gold and silver leaf material. To date, MIT Media Lab have gotten the DuoSkin's to work in three different ways: touch input, display input and wireless communication. 

Breaking down each application further, the touch input would turn the flash tattoo into a trackpad-esque surface. The display input changes colour based on specific variables, such as temperature or heart rate. Lastly, the wireless communication element would make the flash tattoo interact with devices in the same way that an NFC tag does. 

How far these temporary flash tattoos will go is still unclear from MIT Media Lab's side, but you can see them at work in the video after the break.
