MTN South Africa has announced an extension of its big mobile data sale promotion, which was originally revealed in March 2013. This promotion will now run until 30 September 2013.

As an added benefit to this extension, the local mobile operator also revealed that it will be reducing the existing 500 MB internet bundle during this extension period. This means that instead of paying the current reduced rate of R119, subscribers will only fork out R99 for their 500 MB data bundle.

During the course of the next three months, MTN’s prepaid customers will continue to receive the following:

  • 10 MB free upon the purchase of a 10 MB internet bundle for R10.
  • 25 MB of internet connectivity for free when customers buy a 75 MB internet bundle for R29.
  • The 300 MB internet bundle has been reduced from R149 and will now cost R79 to load.
  • The cost of MTN’s 1 GB internet bundle has been slashed from R289 to R149.
  • The price of the 2 GB internet bundle has been reduced from R389 to R245.

In order to load a bundle MTN customers can simply dial *141*2# or download the myMTNza App from their device’s respective app store.

MTN’s contract- and TopUp customers will continue to receive the following benefits up until the 30th September 2013:

  • Pay only R49 for 500 MB on a monthly basis.
  • The 1 GB price plan has been reduced from R99 to R79 per month.
  • The 1 GB TopUp plan will only cost R99, reduced from R129 every month.
  • The 2 GB plan has been slashed from R139 to R119 each month.
  • The 2 GB TopUp plan is no longer R189 and now costs R149 monthly.

“The extension in these offerings is to ensure that we not only continue to deliver a world-class internet experience as well as quality services and products to our customers – but to allow our customers to continue to engage in this bold new digital world at a convenient and suitable price to them,” said Serame Taukobong, chief marketing officer at MTN SA.

In related news, MTN also recently announced that its contract and Top-Up customers are now able to access long-term evolution (aka 4G) service over an extended South African footprint.
