Mad Catz files for bankruptcy
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 3 April 2017 | Categories: newsIn the world of gaming peripherals, they don't any weirder or more wonderful than Mad Catz. Unfortunately though, the company has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the United States, citing failing sales of its hardware over the past few years, along with mediocre returns of Rock Band 4.
Making the filing late last week, according to Nasdaq, Mad Catz has officially shut its doors, and will be begin selling off any remaining assets. At the moment, there are no plans for Mad Catz to reorganise in the guise of another company, with business going into liquidation, and its board of directors vacating their positions.
Having been in the peripheral manufacturing industry since 1989, perhaps some of its more wacky products will become sought after collectibles in years to come. As such, if you own a piece of Mad Catz hardware, you may want to hold onto it.
