In the world of take-aways, is there anything more frustrating than waiting for your milkshake to melt a little bit before you can tuck in? McDonald's seems to think so, and has now introduced a re-engineered straw for customers to enjoy their Chocolate Shamrock Shakes.

Named the STRAW, which stands for Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal (we're not making this stuff up, they are), this new device allows customers to enjoy their milkshake without having to worry about it being too thick to drink.

In order to create the STRAW, McDonald's tapped the nous of JACE Engineering and NK Lans to design this apparatus, also releasing a tongue-in-cheek video that carries a hint of Apple. Not everyone will be able to enjoy the STRAW at the moment, with only 2 000 production models making their way to select McDonald's restaurants in the US.
