German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has announced another option for prospective C-class buyers in the limited edition Edition C package that is available for sedan, estate and coupé models. This Edition C package offers buyers some additional equipment, enhanced interior and more dynamic exterior styling.

In terms of exterior design alterations, the Edition C package adds an exclusive radiator grille with high-gloss black louvres and chrome trim flanked by darkened headlamps. Some additional sportiness is also added to the styling via AMG bodykit for the front- and rears aprons and side sill panels.

Further stand-out design features of the Edition C package include chromed tailpipe trims, Edition C badge on the wing, plus 17" five-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in black with a high-sheen finish for the Sedan and Estates models. The Coupé model as well as the Sedan and Estate models that are ordered with the Avantgarde design and equipment line come with 18" wheels.

Classier cabin for the Edition C models

On the inside, the Edition C package adds sports seats in ARTICO leather or DINAMICA microfibre in black (AMG sports seats in the coupé), with two-tone contrasting top stitching in blue or alpaca grey as well as a dark aluminium trim.

Facing the driver is a three-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather with contrasting topstitching in alpaca grey, along with a multifunction colour display in the instrument cluster that measures around 4.5". The gear selector lever, velour floor mats, and DINAMICA microfibre-trimmed door centre panels also sport contrasting topstitching in alpaca grey.

In terms of extra options, Edition C models boast a standard-fit Audio 20 CD radio that incorporates a digital bus, meaning that a Media Interface is standard, and that the high-end Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system is also available as an option.

Pricing

The C-class Edition C equipment and appointments add just R5 900 (including VAT) to the price of the regular C-class coupé, sedan and estate models. As with all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, Edition C model buyers net the PremiumDrive maintenance package of 6 years or 100 000 km.

Mercedes-Benz has also introduced a C 300 Edition C in estate as well as sedan guise for R499 443 including VAT, but excluding emissions tax. This model is powered by a 3.5 litre V6 that churns out 185 kW and 340 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

Features included with the C 300 Edition C are the COMAND Online multimedia system with live traffic information, which is able to warn drivers of traffic jams ahead in the road.
