Star Wars fans were treated to more details about the franchise in the hands of Disney. Variety reported back from Scale: The Future of Tech and Entertainment conference in California, where Disney CEO, Bob Iger had quite a bit to say about Star Wars, with Lucasfilms of course owned by the House of the Mouse.

There were a lot of tasty morsels, but the most important ones centred around how many movies are still planned, Carrie Fisher, and the Han Solo solo movie.

Firstly, if ever fans were concerned about running out of Star Wars movies to watch, Iger put an end to that. He noted the creative team behind Star Wars are working on “what could be another decade and a half of ‘Star Wars’ stories”. One only need to look at the Marvel comic books to know that there are loads of Star Wars stories waiting to be told.

Second up, how did the untimely passing of Carrie Fisher influence the upcoming Episode 8? “We are not changing ‘8’ to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it was in ‘8,’” Iger said. Fisher was digitally recreated for Rogue One, but Iger confirmed that this will not be done for Episode 8, although it remains unclear how Princess Leia will be managed in future movies.

Thirdly, Iger expanded on what lies in wait for 2018’s Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. According to Variety, Han Solo fans should learn more about how 1) the smuggler got his nickname, 2) how he befriended a Wookie, and 3) how Solo came in possession of the YT-1300 492727ZED, better known as the Millennium Falcon. The movie apparently covers Solo’s shenanigans from the age of 18 to 24.

All in all, Iger’s talk accounted for some yummy treats. Now if only we can get a trailer for Episode 8…
