Netflix developing Godzilla anime to debut at the end of March
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 14 March 2017 | Categories: newsNetflix has grown leaps and bounds in the past two years, not only in the number of users its secured, but also the amount of award-winning shows it has in its stable. It has, however, been a tad lacking on the anime front, with only Knights of Sidonia being the real standout. That's about to change later this month though, as an original Godzilla anime is on the way come 26 March, according to reports.
Being developed by Toho and Polygon Pictures, this new series is said to the be first time that Godzilla has starred in its own anime, ever since it first debuted on the silver screen nearly 63 years ago.
For now, there is no trailer to dissect, but simply a series of concept art (featured below), which seems to set the stage that Godzilla will be discovered by scientists (or the military) much like King Kong has in his big screen adaptations.
With Kaiju films back in a big way, including Anne Hathaway's Colossal and 2018's Pacific Rim 2, this new anime should be a handy addition.
