Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive (review), was not just a terrific Xbox One game, it was also a breath of fresh air (and zany humour) for post Armageddon/mutant zombie shooters as well. The latest (good) news is that for players who similarly couldn’t get enough of Overdrive’s colourful take on the genre, more is apparently on its way.

The next piece of DLC is aptly and cheekily named The Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines, somehow managing to lampoon the Planet of the Apes, Terminator and Transformers franchises all in one fell swoop. The new DLC will apparently upgrade the game’s Fizzco Robots, but will also bring new weapons and amps to your ridiculous but effective arsenal of absurd weapons.

These include a rifle that fires swarms of nano bots (think mechanical bees) that damage your foes over an extended period, and a more serious rifle able to call in a laser orbital strike to make your enemies rue getting out of bed.  Yes, you could argue these are somewhat familiar to those found in Insomniac Games’ Ratchet and Clank titles, but that matters little; we expect they will be no less fun to deploy. In true joker style, the DLC is dated to drop on April Fool’s.
