New Electrocharged colourway puts spotlight back on Puma Deviate Nitro 2
By Staff Writer 20 February 2023 | Categories: newsYou could be forgiven for missing out on the release of Puma’s Deviate Nitro 2 running shoe last year. As the follow up to one of our favourite running shoes, the Deviate Nitro (review) from 2021, the Deviate Nitro 2 slipped in late December while you might have been busy getting ready for Xmas.
Good news then as a new colourway is putting this shoe back in the spotlight. Puma calls it the Deviate Nitro 2 Electrocharged, offering a striking colour combination of “Royal Sapphire” and “Elektro Purple”, with this colour combo seemingly available on certain other Puma models too.
The Deviate Nitro 2 is best for neutral pronators and shaves four grams off the weight of its predecessor, now coming in at 262 g per shoe (214 g for the women’s). With a drop of 8mm, you’ll find the heel measuring 38mm, with Puma’s excellent Pumagrip doing duty on the outsole.
Puma notes the shoe is more responsive than its older brother, thanks to a full-length layer of premium Nitro Elite foam at the midsole for “supreme cushioning and peak propulsion”.
The carbon composite plate, called the PWRPLATE, has been reworked, offering a platform design which acts as a lever for maximum energy transfer at toe-off. Finally, the breathable mesh upper provides extra padding and grip around the ankle to prevent heel slip, according to Puma.
The Deviate Nitro 2 Electrocharged men’s and women’s are available on PUMA.com, PUMA Retail, Totalsports and SportSA Online. It retails for a recommended Retail price R3 599.
P.S. - Stay tuned as we will review the Deviate Nitro 2 Electrocharged in future.
