Don't confuse Mad Max Savage Road with simply being a movie to game spinoff. Indeed, one might be forgiven for thinking so, as the game's development has definitely coincided with that of the film, but Mad Max Savage Road looks a game all unto itself.

With the exception of the protagonist's name, this game veers quite far from the Fury Road storyline, and sees Max take on the unforgiving Wastelands without the help of a femme fatale, like the movie does. Instead, much like the gameplay trailer that debuted a few weeks ago, this new video seems focused on the cars, and the action that takes place around them.

Although we're yet to get up close and personal with the Avalanche Studios developed game, it seems like a mix between Just Cause (which Avalanche Studios just so happens to design) and Red Dead Redemption. Added to this is a rather compelling antagonist in the form of Scrotus, who along with his warboys (the pale dudes with a penchant for killing), kick the snot out of Max every chance they get.

Max is not all alone in his quest for revenge however, he enlists the help of Chumbucket, a quirky sidekick to say the least. While Chumbucket seems good for a laugh, he is also a pretty nifty mechanic, and helps Max create and customise his very own four-wheeled warmachine, or Magnum Opus.

With its release date scheduled for 4 September on PS4, Xbox One and PC, we can't wait for glimpses at Mad Max Savage Road, which looks better with every new trailer.
