Described by Nike for players that are "deceptive" by nature, the US apparel giant just debuted its latest football boot innovation - the Hypervenom Phantom Transform. While most football boots today are designed to be ultra light, the Phantom Transform adds another interesting feature to the mix, namely the ability to change colour when heated. Although Nike has not detailed the technology behind the Phantom Transform's chameleon-like abilities, there's a nifty little video to accompany its release.

Starting off in a relatively inconspicuous all black upper, the boot then changes colour to a bright orange, with black ridges and contours to resemble snake scales. Nike says that the boot returns to the black colourway once the wearer removes the boot. We also think it could prove an interesting way to see just how active players are being on the pitch.

Nike says the Hypervenom Phantom Transform will hit select stores come in coming days, and will be available to purchase online today if you happen to reside in the States. For now, check the Hypervenom do its colour changing trick in the video after the break.
