New PlayStation update will add 60 fps Twitch streaming on PS4 Pro
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 10 August 2017 | Categories: newsSony has a significant update on the way for the PS4 and PS4 Pro in the form of Firmware 5.0. So much so that the company has even rolled out beta registration for it, but details for the update is yet to be released. Until now, however, with Eurogamer revealing aspects of the update via notes that leaked for 5.0.
Among the reported features is the ability for PS4 Pro owners to stream on Twitch at 60 fps. If true, that would allow console gamers to be on an equal footing with their PC counterparts when it comes to streaming. Whether it will make the latter switch over is unlikely, but it would certainly open up more streaming opportunities for console gamers.
For those who don't have a PS4 Pro to call upon, the notes of update 5.0 also mention something for the PS4 crowd. To that end, families can have multiple adult accounts, which means older siblings can access content that their younger ones may not be able to. Added to that will be the ability to follow any PS accounts you wish, extending it beyond developers and popular gamers.
With Sony and Microsoft readying large-scale updates for their respective console platforms, there are plenty of changes on the way.
