New concept art drops for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 23 August 2016 | Categories: newsApart from Guardians of the Galaxy set to feature in the next Avengers movie, according to a slip from Vin Diesel in a Facebook Live video apparently, there is some more good news for Star-Lord fans. A surprise hit from 2014, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy showed that even lesser known comic book characters could make the move to the big screen with the right actors and director on the project. The follow-up, aptly named Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit cinemas in early May next year, with Marvel teasing footage from the film to Comic-Con attendees in San Diego, California a few weeks ago.
While we haven’t seen said footage, some concept art has been unveiled courtesy of Empire. The image feature all five Guardians, including a slightly bigger baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), taking on a multi-tentacled monster in outer space.
Some say the creature could be one of the film's key villains, but we're not convinced, especially as such reveals are left for fully fledged trailers or the movie itself. Nevertheless, it's nice to see the gang back together again, even if it's just an artist's rendering. According to Polygon, the image is very similar to the footage seen at Comic-Con, which also featured the same kind of bater that made the first film so great.
We do have one question though - why are Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista) and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) all able to breathe in space without any helmets?
