New video from Microsoft unpacks the importance of technology to South Africans
By Ryan Noik 27 July 2018 | Categories: newsIn the wake of Nelson Mandela day, Microsoft has released an eye opening video that shows clearly the impact of technology on rural South Africans.
In a refreshing change from the usual hype, the video explores Nelson Mandela’s legacy, and the real world conditions that many are living in, as well as the dramatic changes that the likes of connectivity and internet access can make to the lives of students.
The latest edition of Today in Technology follows Microsoft president Brad Smith and communications director Carol Ann Browne as they visit Nelson Mandela’s home village of Qunu, in the Eastern Cape and speak to teachers, nurses and hospital administrators.
One of the most notable quotes from Smith is: “It takes a village to raise a child, it takes a world to serve a village. We are all part of the world coming together to serve this village.”
