Nintendo NES Classic consoles selling for $400 on eBay
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 18 April 2017 | Categories: newsIf you were hoping to get your hands on a newly minted NES Classic console, you would have been disappointed by the news of Nintendo discontinuing its production Stateside. As such, gamers feasting for some retro action have to turn to the reseller market, and eBay in particular. According to Kotaku, some NES Classic consoles have been found to sell for a ridiculous $25 000, but more recently $400 seems to be the maximum threshold.
At that price, the NES Classic is selling for as much as a Nintendo Switch, which is considerably more than the $60 it originally retailed for when launched in November last year. Since its discontinuation, the NES Classic has seen its price triple in past months, going for an average of $144 in March.
The appeal of this retro-styled console is easy to see, especially when nostalgia in tech is on the rise. With the new Nokia 3310 dominating interest at MWC 17, perhaps Sega would be interested in re-releasing the Saturn. Check out some of the NES Classic features in the video below.
