OPPO has announced that its latest operating system, ColorOS 15, will soon be available in South Africa, bringing advanced AI capabilities and integration with Google Gemini to certain devices. The update, designed to boost productivity and creativity, will be available from December 2024, notes OPPO.

Among the first devices to receive the upgrade are the OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G, OPPO Reno12 FS 5G, OPPO Reno12 FS and OPPO Reno12 F 5G. The rollout will expand in 2025 to include models like the OPPO Find N2 Flip, OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G, and OPPO Reno10 5G.

Onboard AI innovation 

ColorOS 15 is built around AI integration with Google Gemini 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Flash, offering features that enhance language processing, task management, and information retrieval.

One standout feature is AI Recording Summary, which condenses lengthy voice recordings into concise summaries - a time-saving tool which we have seen do duty on the OPPO Reno 12. Additionally, its smart document editing tools streamline the process of refining and restructuring notes, delivering professional results in seconds.

New ways to search 

The new “Circle to Search with Google” feature provides a novel way to access information. By long-pressing the home button or navigation bar, users can instantly search for content on their screen, eliminating the need to switch between apps or copy-paste text.

Google Gemini, an AI assistant integrated into ColorOS 15, further enhances productivity, according to OPPO. From brainstorming and real-time collaboration to simplifying complex tasks, Gemini supports users in everything from planning to presentation rehearsals.

Performance, privacy and personalisation

ColorOS 15 also prioritises user privacy and performance. Enhanced privacy features safeguard sensitive data, while the AI Performance Booster optimises system resources for faster response times and smoother multitasking.

Customisation options allow users to personalise home screens and notifications, creating a user experience tailored to their needs, states OPPO.

ColorOS 15 will begin rollout this month, with the OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G, OPPO Reno12 FS 5G, OPPO Reno12 FS and OPPO Reno12 F 5G the first to be upgraded.
