OnePlus is one smartphone maker that has proved that it's unafraid to be ambitious. Their flagship phones have routinely been some of the most highly specced on the market, and each iteration looks a bit better than the last. It’s set to continue, since despite significant leaks over the past few days, the new OnePlus 6 has garnered quite a bit of attention.

And for good reason, with the phone sporting some of the best specifications of 2018 to date, even keeping with the current phone trend of a screen notch.

So what's the OnePlus 6 packing? Well powering the device is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which has been paired with a choice of 8 GB or 6 GB RAM depending on the model. There is also a differentiation in terms of onboard storage, with 128 GB and 256 GB variants available.

Another notable elements of this device is the camera setup, with a combination 16 MP and 20 MP Sony-made lens on the back. The latter is designed for wider angle shots, with the former increasing its sensor size by 19% compared to the OnePlus 5, which yields a better low light performance, according to the company. The front facing option isn't lacking megapixels either at 16 MP.

Shifting to some of the other aspects of the OnePlus 6, it has a 3300 mAh battery, rear fingerprint sensor, face unlocking, 6.28" display (2280x1080) and dual SIM capabilities. As for when it arrives, the OnePlus 6 is set for launch in China on 21 May, followed the day after for the US, parts of Europe and India. Recommended pricing for the phone starts at $529 (6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage).

When local consumers can get their hands on it, remains to be seen.
