The latest Oppo Reno range has been announced locally at an event held in Johannesburg last night. The Reno10 range is coming, with the emphasis, for now, on the flagship Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G, arriving early July.

It’s especially the importance of the Pro+’s portrait photography that was mentioned. For this the phone depends on the 3x optical zoom (f2.5) capabilities of the 64MP camera, one of three on the back. This allows you to zoom into the subject, also making use of a larger ½” sensor and an optical image stabiliser, which contributes to clearer images. It’s joined by a 50MP camera with a 24mm (f1.8) camera, and an 8MP camera with a 120˚ wide lens (f2.2).

To view your images, you have what Oppo calls the Reno series’ first high-spec screen. This 6.74” curved screen has a 1240 x 2772 pixels resolution, a 94% screen-to-body ratio, HDR10+, complete with Amazon Prime Video and Netflix certification. Oppo also notes ProXDR locally, which adjusts screen brightness up to eight times in select areas of the image, for example, boosting the brightness of the sky, streetlights in the city, or sunset over a hill.

Oppo’s fast charging is also onboard, this time it’s the upgraded 100W SUPERVOOC, charging 50% in 10 minutes and 100% in 27 minutes, while ensuring durability of the 4700 mAh battery. There’s also the company’s self-developed Dynamic Computing Engine included, which Oppo notes ensures up to 48-month fluency and is found on the mobile operating system - ColorOS 13. This too provides Multi-Screen Connect, which has been updated to support the smart connection between Reno10 Pro+ 5G and OPPO Pad Air (which might come in handy if you subscribe to R899 p/m option).

On top of this, the Reno10 series is the first Oppo smartphone series to support IR Remote Control for smart devices such as air conditioners, TVs and set-top boxes.

Price, you ask? If you buy the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G (available in either Glossy Purple and Silvery Grey), you also receive ENCO buds, Oppo care, charger and cable in the box, for R799 p/m. For R100 bucks extra p/m you get the Oppo Pad Air to the value of R6 999 – this is a limited offer on a 24-month contract.

In addition to at least two system upgrades and three years of maintenance, you can also enjoy benefits like points credits, IoT product bundles and discounts, and exclusive shopping services, according to Oppo.

To us, here’s the kicker - if you purchase a Reno10 Series, you could win a trip to France to see the Springboks in action. Register your purchase on www.opporewards.co.za to enter that draw.
