Oppo today announced that its recently launched Reno5 5G device (which we've reviewed here) has been selected as the designated smartphone for PUBG MOBILE Middle East and Africa Esports 2021. For the next four weeks, PUBG Mobile gamers across South Africa will battle it out weekly as they climb their way atop the solo-based Series league to be crowned the ultimate gamer.

The four-week series will commence on the 24th of May, bringing together players per week, whereby winners in each week's category will receive a cash prize of R1 250.00 and will be invited to play in the Series final hosted on the 25th June. The grand winner will walk away with R5 000.00 in cash and a brand new Oppo Reno5 5G which boasts Qualcomm 5G chipsets, AMOLED screens with 90 Hz refresh rate, smooth, light, and slim design, and 65 W SuperVOOC2.0 Flash Charge – the safest and one of the fastest charging technologies commercially available in the world according to Oppo.

Bradley Young, Head of Product at Oppo South Africa said, “Oppo’s strategy is focused on engaging with our users’ passions. In line with the huge popularity of mobile gaming in the region, we invested in bringing the ideal gaming platform to our customers through our latest Reno5 series of smartphones. Being selected by the region’s leading gaming company as the official smartphone partner for PUBG MOBILE Esports is a testament to the extraordinary and immersive gaming experience offered by our Reno5 5G smartphones.”

As the official smartphone partner of PUBG MOBILE Esports in the Middle East & Africa regions in 2021, OPPO will play an active part in the company’s Esports championships that will run throughout the year. Oppo has a strong history of supporting sports activities that is in line with PUBG MOBILE’s plan to develop regional talents by building a well-defined structure for Esports, forging a clear path from grassroots to amateur to pro-league levels.

Based on an in-depth understanding of the market, Oppo believes it has innovated the Reno5 series’ latest smartphones tailored for a superior gaming experience with features such as Gaming Shortcut Mode, Gamer Mode, Bullet Screen Messages, and Adjustable Gaming Touch that create an environment for users to be totally immersed in entertainment.

John Lacey, Head of Tencent MENA office said, “At PUBG MOBILE, we’re committed to bringing the ultimate fun and enjoyment for passionate, adventurous trendsetters and Esport enthusiasts. Leveraging on our experience and expertise in Esports, we’re thrilled to join hands with Oppo to enhance the ever-growing mobile gaming landscape.”
