PlayerUnknown's Battleground making its way to mobile soon
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 29 November 2017 | Categories: newsPlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is set for a rise in profile over the next few months. The wildly popular game, currently charting high among active gamers on Steam, is making its way to the Xbox One, and now news of a mobile version is in the works.
Tencent confirmed its development earlier this week, with developer Bluehole joining to help bring the game to smartphones in China. It's unclear at this stage how the Chinese firm plans to port the game to a smaller screen, or indeed what differences in gameplay will occur as a result, but Tencent says it promises a similar gaming experience.
Also unclear at this stage is a timeline for its rollout, along with whether or not the game will be a China-exclusive release or make its way to other regions of the globe. Given the fact that the game has sold an estimated 20 million copies worldwide to date, it would seem likely that a wider release will follow the Chinese one.
