Puma’s evolved LQD CELL technology seems to be their new go-to when it comes to trainers, with the apparel manufacturer describing it as their most stable cushioning yet. The latest shoe featuring this tech is the LQD CELL Tension Rave.

Puma notes these are designed for high-intensity training with the soft yet sturdy hexagonal cells compressing to help enhance steadiness and comfort. Support is provided through the EVA wrap-up that offers lateral support, and a TPU heel clip was added for heel stability. Grip is provided through the rubber outsole.

While the orange and black colourway is far from the boldest Puma has released, it gives the shoe an interesting look, especially with the wave pattern on the sides. The company notes that the dark palette, “alludes to the dusky atmosphere that encapsulates nightclubs and raves.” We’re not too sure how much of the 90s rave culture is encapsulated in the Tension Rave, but if you’re set for some moves in the gym, these Pumas look like the right choice.

Retailing for R2299, the LQD CELL Tension Rave drops at PUMA stores, Totalsports and selected retailers from 18 October 2019.
