Rocketman gets his first official trailer
By Staff Writer 22 February 2019 | Categories: newsThe Freddie Mercury biopic was a decent romp and even stands the chance to take home a few Oscars over the weekend. But a new musical biopic looks like it might just surpass the success of Bohemian Rhapsody.
The first official trailer for Rocketman has hit the small screen, of course telling the story of Reginald Dwight, perhaps better known as Elton John.
The movie takes us through the life of a young Dwight growing up in Britain as a bit of a musical prodigy, through to his working partnership with Berny Taupin. From what we can gather from the trailer, it looks more warts and all than the Queen movie. There is a connection between the two movies though, since Rocketman’s director, Dexter Fletcher, replaced Bryan Singer in the director’s chair on the homestretch of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Elton is portrayed by Taron Egerton who played Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in Kingsman, while Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) stars as Taupin. One can wonder if Egerton picked up his Elton skills from working with the legend on the set of Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Rocketman is set for release on 24 May in the UK. Click play for a bit of Be-be-be-benny and the Jets.
