Last night, Samsung revealed its new Galaxy Note 8 phablet. The device features a number of firsts for the South Korean manufacturer, with the big 6.3” QHD Infinity Display being one of them. While it affords Note 8 users even more screen real estate, it also means the new dimensions make it to large for the current Gear VR headset.

To that end, it was revealed after the Galaxy Unpacked event that Samsung has a new Gear VR headset. This Galaxy Note 8 edition of the Gear VR comes with a controller and is listed at $129.99 (R1 716) in the States.

In terms of specifications, it’s exactly like the current Gear VR, offering up 360-degree viewing and a trio of movement sensors, albeit in a slightly wider body. This latest offering is not solely designed for the Note 8, and is backwards compatible with all of Samsung’s Galaxy flagship devices of the three years.

While the Note 8 outgrew the confines of the current Gear VR, hopefully it’s not too large to fit into other headsets like the Google Daydream.
