It's safe to say that Samsung has dominated the early part of 2016, laying down the gauntlet to all its Android competitors at this year's MWC with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge (review). Now it appears as if Samsung is directing its attention towards Apple. In its native South Korea, Samsung has just detailed a new colour for both flagship devices - Pink Gold.

While Samsung's version features a bit less of a copper tinge to it than Apple's rose gold-named version, there are certainly some striking similarities. We're not suggesting that Apple has full ownership on the colour pink, but in recent years it has been one of the colours that has become associated with the American company's devices.

Whether or not Samsung's pink gold proves more appealing than Apple's rose gold remains to be seen. For now, the pink gold colours will be available in South Korea from today, with select markets receiving it at a later stage. At the moment, South Africa's status is unknown, but seeing as we are one of Samsung's key markets, pink gold is certainly on the cards.
