Chinese brand Tecno is hitting the local midrange smartphone market with the new SPARK 10 series. The SPARK 10 series comprises three models - the SPARK 10 Pro (R7K), SPARK 10C (R3.5K), and SPARK 10 5G, which will arrive a bit later.

It’s the 6.8” SPARK 10 Pro which Tecno is punting the hardest, which it notes offers a decent 16 GB RAM (8GB+8GB extended via Memory Fusion Technology) and 256 GB ROM worth of storage, running on the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset.

This octa-core processor features two Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs operating up to 2 GHz, incorporating MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 lite and is supercharged by Tecno’s GameTurbo Algorithm. This manages your resources while gaming, for example estimating lag and intelligently adjusting operational smoothness for an improved gaming and entertainment experience, according to Tecno.

The 5.6” LCD screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 1080x2460 resolution is housed in a hard-wearing, starry glass back panel design, which in our opinion makes this the best looking Tecno we’ve seen yet.

But it’s the interesting dual flash setup that draws a lot of the attention. Tecno notes an adjustable dual flash on the 32 MP front camera, allowing selfie-lovers to “showcase the best in them and glow as they are”. In order to ensure users will always get the perfect selfie, Tecno states any overexposure is immediately corrected by the Super Flashlight Algorithm to achieve a balance of brightness between the background and the subject, while concealing user’s blemishes and accentuating their beauty.

A dual flash setup also makes an appearance on the rear 50 MP AI camera, with the built-in 10 Lux soft light providing just the right amount of flash that does not glare, with the intensity of the soft light also adjustable across three levels for different lighting conditions, notes Tecno.

Most of the models in the SPARK 10 Series are supported by a solid 5000 mAh battery and 18 W fast-charging capability. Last but not least, the Tecno SPARK 10 Series (except for SPARK 10C) pulls in with Android 13 and HiOS 12.6 UI on top.

The whole series, minus the SPARK 10 5G, is available in South Africa from select Tecno retail partners.
