In some good news for small and medium businesses, Telkom has confirmed the launch of its Business Uncapped internet usage plan.

The company explained that Business Uncapped consists of a range of affordable uncapped internet offers suitable for small offices with up to five users. Carel Booysen, Executive: Business Broadband and internet, elaborated that the aim of the offering is to provide small businesses priority on the network during office hours.

More specifically, it is intended to allow them to benefit from an uncapped internet experience suitable for business essential internet functions like browsing, email and file transfer.

Benefits, unwrapped

He continued that this would enable business customers to use bandwidth intensive applications such as “sync and share” and remote backup, while enjoying prioritised email, browsing and software-as-a-service.

This latest product inclusion is the middle-of-the-range offering in Telkom Business’ broadband portfolio suitable for customers seeking a product that resides between the Business SoftCapped and Premium Uncapped offers.

With SoftCapped, customers can still access the internet for browsing local and international websites even after they reach their usage limit. However, services like streaming and peer-to-peer are “significantly” restricted.

Premium Uncapped, meanwhile, offers customers multiple concurrent users and high performance with prioritisation over the network at any time of the day. It also includes up to 40Mbps access speeds in areas where Telkom has deployed multi-service access nodes (MSANs).

Business uncapped consists a combination of the data usage from the above uncapped offers with business VAS and business xDSL. It is designed for customers of 1 Mbps ADSL to 40Mbps VDSL.

The bundle offers above includes five email accounts linked to a .co.za domain, 3GB hosting space and other setup tools.

To the point

Booysen asserted that it is these kinds of offering which provide the access, capacity, speed and the tools that enable customers to fully exploit the digital world.

“Given that we are in the digital era and part of the Information Age, it is important that small businesses equip themselves with suitable products that allow for optimum productivity and convenience while still remaining cost effective,” he concluded.
