Tesla performance Model 3 does 0-60 mph in 3.5 secondsBy Robin-Leigh Chetty 21 May 2018 | Categories: news
Tesla's Model 3 has once again been making its way to different regions of the world following the company's recent manufacturing issues, but the electric vehicle is yet to land on our shores. While we ponder the prospect of driving such a car, Elon Musk has been revealing details for a performance version of the Model 3 on Twitter.
Tesla dual motor, all-wheel drive performance Model 3:— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 20, 2018
3.5 sec 0-60mph
155 mph Top Speed
310 mile Range
The co-founder has noted that the range topping performance Model 3 is set to cost an estimated $78 000, which not only delivers an engine capable of faster speeds, but also includes a 20" wheels, a carbon fibre spoiler, dual motor setup and AutoPilot extras.
Musk added that it is in line with the base model BMW M3, but the Tesla Model 3 is said to be 15% faster than the Bavarian carmaker's offering. To that end it is capable of hitting 60 mph (96.56 km/h) from a standstill in 3.5 seconds, along with a restricted top speed of 249 km/h. As far as range goes, the performance Model 3 can muster 499 kilometres from a fully charged engine, but it's unclear what kind of driving conditions that number is under.
Nevertheless, Musk notes that the performance Model 3 is unmatched by any vehicle in its class when it comes to the track. There is no word on when these new cars can be ordered from Tesla, but it is believed to be within the next few months.
