Leica has always been known for designing cameras that are beautifully designed, as well as fantastic at taking images. It appears as if its latest model, the T-System (Typ 701) will be keeping that tradition alive. The German manufacturer took great pride in unveiling its latest camera, which was the result of a collaborative effort with Audi Design.

Apart from being exceedingly pretty, the Leica T is constructed from a single piece of aluminium, favouring a unibody design and bearing a striking stylistic resemblance to Apple's device lineup.

Up front, Leica has fitted the T-System with a 16 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and at the back, it incorporates a 3.1" 1.3 M dot LCD touchscreen. The T-system also features full HD 1080p recording functionality, at a maximum frame rate of 30 fps. Other noteworthy inclusions are 16 GB of internal memory and slots for SD, SDHC and SDXC cards, as well as built-in Wi-Fi to instantly share content via e-mail or social media (Facebook, Twitter).

Leica has also developed a new 'T' app for use with iOS devices, with the added function of using your iPhone or iPad as an electronic viewfinder.

Along with the T-System camera, Leica has a series of similarly specced photographic accessories including two lenses specifically designed for this new camera, the Summicron-T 23 mm and Vario-Elmar-T 18-56 mm. There are more lens options expected to make their arrival in September at photokina 2014.

The Leica T will be available in the coming months, with an expected price tag in the range of £1350 (R24 200) for either the standard Silver or anodised Black versions. The Summicron-T 23 mm and Vario-Elmar-T 18056 mm lenses will set you back £1350 (R24 200) and £1250 (R22 400) respectively. So if you're looking to get one, you better start eating ramen noodles from here on out.
