The Microsoft Surface Book is currently doing the rounds in its native United States. It has, however, had its critics, one of which is Apple CEO Tim Cook. In a recent interview with the Irish Independent, Cook referred to the device as "diluted," adding "It's a product that tries too hard to do too much." The tablet-notebook-hybrid device from Microsoft has prompted some to ask whether Apple will indeed go the same route, especially as the iPad Pro seems to be veering that way. 

Cook addressed this concern in the same Independent piece, stating, "we feel strongly that customers are not really looking for a converged Mac and iPad." Although Cook has given a firm stance on the matter, the move to create such a device seems natural. 

The iPad Pro currently boasts some the best tablet components Apple has used to date, which has resulted in benchmark scores that rival that of a notebook. As such, the manufacture of a future iPad Pro that can be converted into a fully fledged notebook makes plenty of sense. Furthermore, it would be the first time that an Apple CEO has said they would not make a specific device, and then years later in fact produce it, case in point Steve Jobs and a phablet-sized iPhone.
