For those unfamiliar with Tinder, the 'dating' app has allowed users as young as 13 years old to sign up for and use the service. That is about to change, with Tinder stating that no under-18's will be permitted to use the app. 

A Tinder spokesperson provided the following statement to TechCrunch on the matter. "On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences. Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under 18 users. We believe this is the best policy moving forward. This change will take effect next week." 

Up until now, users aged 13 to 17 would only be able to interact with other people of the same age bracket on the app. While the reason behind the change has not been fully disclosed, Tinder VP of Communications, Rosette Pambakian noted that, “we’ve been reviewing this policy since early this year and believe it’s the right thing to do.”
