US-based MegaBots Inc. challenges its Japanese rivals to a robot duel
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 3 July 2015 | Categories: newsWe all know Robot Wars, but the guys and gals over at US-based MegaBots Inc. plan to take that concept and inject it with some supersize-me steroids. More specifically MegaBots Inc. has laid down the gauntlet to its Japanese rivals Suidobashi Heavy Industry. MegaBots chose to post a video up on YouTube to make the challenge official, stating "You have a giant robot, we have a giant robot… you know what needs to happen."
The challenge is part of a marketing stunt by MegaBots, who have previously tried (and failed) to raise an estimated $1.8 million on Kickstarter for its own Robot Wars-esque show termed the "sport of the future," according to The Verge.
MegaBot's Mark II robot will be doing their battling, standing roughly 15 metres tall with a few paintball shooting guns located by the arms. If the challenge were accepted by Suidobashi, they will most likely put their Kuratas robot (featured above) up to fight, which stands 13 metres tall and weighs a massive four ton.
Check out the challenge video below, and wait to see if Suidobashi Heavy Industry accepts.
