Casio reportedly working on smartwatches

For the most part, it's been the tech brands that have dominated the smartwatch space, with Samsung, LG, Sony and Apple making the most headway. A few months, ago, luxury watch maker Tag Heuer announced its intention to make a smartwatch at Baselworld. Now Casio, are reportedly aiming to do the same, designing a smartwatch in line with its niche fashion watches, like the G-Shock.
According to sources at The Wall Street Journal, the Japanese manufacturer has already begun working on a smartwatch offering, with March next year being slated as a possible release date for the device in its native country. WSJ goes on to report that Casio has set a relatively lofty $80 million goal for its smartwatch business, which could prove difficult to reach, given the company's lack of expertise in the market.
This yet-to-be-named smartwatch will carry an estimated $400 price tag, and could hopefully bring back the company's popularity to those calculator watch glory days of the 80s.
