Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End pushed into 2016
By Ryan Noik 13 March 2015 | Categories: newsUncharted fans, brace yourself – Uncharted 4 will not be swinging onto PS4 this year after all. In the latest from Naughty Dog, the developers announced that the game will instead arrive in the first half of next year.
Yes, for those counting on the PS4’s heavy hitter this year, it’s a blow, but apparently there’s a good reason behind it. In a statement, Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, the directors the game, explained: “Since first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned. After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly – this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for.”
Thus, the game has been pushed out of its planned November 2015 release date. According to the studio, the few extra months will enable them to “make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.”
Here’s the clanger though – it does look like Uncharted 4 may well be the last Uncharted, at least as told from Drake’s perspective, as Druckmann goes on to say: “The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves.” There you have it. Oh well, at least there is always Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 to refamiliarise oneself with during the wait.
