Valve allowing modders to sell creations via Steam Workshop
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 24 April 2015 | Categories: newsValve's new Steam Workshop will allow game modders to sell their creations straight to gamers via the company's Steam Workshop. Valve confirmed the news early this morning via a posting on their website. "With a new, streamlined process for listing and selling your creations, the Steam Workshop now supports buying mods directly from the Workshop, to be immediately usable in game," the post stated.
Bethesda Games' Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the first game to join the Steam Workshop, as Valve cites the developer's "history of providing strong support for user modifications in their games." Skyrim first partnered with Valve in 2012, bringing the Steam Workshop platform to the game, with more 24 000 mods available to date.
Valve says the new addition of paid mods will help support mod authors in the creation of unique in-game content, as well as give gamers a unique gaming experience. With both free and paid mods now available to use, Valve has also offered a 24-hour risk policy, allowing gamers to get a refund on any mod purchase, should the item be broken or buggy.
