Volvo wants half its car sales to be electric by 2025
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 26 April 2018 | Categories: NewsVolvo is one of the carmakers helping to lead the electric revolution in motoring. The Swedish manufacturer stated last year that it would have electric versions of all its car models by 2019, and this week they've made yet another bold statement.
Currently showcasing their latest vehicles at the Beijing Auto Show, Volvo says that it will aim to have electric car sales account for half of all sales by 2025. "Last year we made a commitment to electrification in preparation for an era beyond the internal combustion engine. Today we reinforce and expand that commitment in the world's leading market for electrified cars," explained CEO Håkan Samuelsson.
While this is indeed an ambitious plan from Volvo, they have not given themselves much time in order to reach its two major electric car goals, since they are yet to reveal a fully electric vehicle (EV) at this stage. As such, the next year should prove telling, with much expected out of Sweden.
