WhatsApp iOS update adds photo filters and albums
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 7 June 2017 | Categories: newsSome nice news for WhatsApp users on iOS, as the IM app has an update in store that will add a handful of new features for you to try out. These include the ability to add photo filters, create automatic albums in chats, and a few quick reply options for messages.
The latter feature is a good step, especially as current smartphone OS' have the option to do so already when you're unable to take a call for example. It is, however, the filter option that will attract the most attention from users, given the popularity of filters on the iOS camera and apps like Instagram.
The current list of filters are Pop, Black & White, Cool, Film and Chrome. The filters can be applied to photos, video or GIFs before they're sent.
Moving onto the automatic albums feature, if a user sends a number of consecutive images in a chat, they'll be group together for others to scroll through slideshow-style.
These features should be rolling out to iOS this week, but no word from WhatsApp on when they'll be porting to Android.
