Those who appreciated Wreck-It Ralph’s nod to arcade gaming might want to take note of his next adventure – destroying the internet. A teaser has gone live for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, a movie mouthful where big brute Ralph (John C. Reilly) goes surfing the web alongside his jabbering companion Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman).
Six years after the events of the first movie, a Wi-Fi router connects Ralph’s arcade to the internet. The internet can be a wonderful place, but also scary and confusing if you don’t know the ins-and-outs, and that is exactly where poor Ralph finds himself.
The previous movie skillfully blended some sweet old-school gaming references, and this time round we will be seeing R2-D2 and Yoda from Star Wars, Iron Man from the Marvel universe, and a whole host of Disney princesses. Of course, helpful with this licensing conundrum is the fact that Wreck-It Ralph is part of the Walt Disney empire, which of course owns the rights to all the above.
Wreck-It Ralph 2 is directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, the director and screenwriter of the first movie, while its debut date is quite a way off – 21 November Stateside.
