YouTube says it has 1.8 billion logged-in viewers every month
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 4 May 2018 | Categories: newsYouTube may be battling to keep many of its creators happy over the current mire of demonetisation, but that has not stopped the video platform from being successful. Speaking during a Brandcast event, The Verge writes that YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki says that 1.8 billion registered users are watching videos on the site, and setting a new benchmark.
The figure was clearly touted by Wojcicki at Brandcast in order to make YouTube look more enticing for brands and advertisers. With controversial content on the platform a lighting rod for advertisers at the moment, YouTube needs to ensure that brands still view the website as a worthwhile advertising avenue despite any perceived risk.
Wojcicki also used the Brandcast event to note that YouTube is taking several steps in improving lessening the amount of controversial and inappropriate content on its site, reiterating that changes are coming to the Kids version of the platform, along with the hiring of 10 000 additional moderators to view flagged content.
With YouTube seemingly doing everything necessary to keep advertisers happy, it should be interesting to see if they can do the same for frustrated creators.
