Intel has announced that 12 new netbooks based on its new mobile dual-core Intel Atom processors will be seeing the light of day this week. 
 
These netbooks come from a range of manufacturers including Acer, ASUS, Fujitsu, Lenovo, LG, Samsung, MSI as well as Toshiba. According to Intel these netbooks offer new levels of support for applications such as games and Adobe Flash technology that improves access to a number of web pages including heavy multimedia sites such as YouTube.
 
“In their short history, the netbook category has experienced impressive growth,” said Erik Reid, director of marketing for mobile platforms at Intel. “Having shipped about 70 million Intel Atom chips for netbooks since our launch of the category in 2008, there is obviously a great market for these devices around the world.” 
 
The company’s dual-core Atom processor N550 also boasts DDR3 memory support and delivers the same battery life as its single-core Intel Atom processor N450 stablemate.
