Acer allows for free Windows 7 upgrade
By Mike Joubert 3 August 2009 | Categories: newsWith the release of Windows 7 set at 22 October 2009, consumers are faced with a bit of a predicament. Do I buy a PC now and be stuck with Windows Vista, or rather wait until new models appear with Windows 7 installed?
Acer bypasses this problem by allowing customers to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 for free. It works like this: if you buy a qualifying Windows Vista-based Acer desktop or notebook between June 26th this year and January 31st 2010, you will be able to get a free licence for Windows 7 once it is released.
To order their copy of Windows 7, Acer customers that qualify simply need to visit the Acer website and follow the step by step instructions. Once Windows 7 is available, it will be posted to qualifying customers by Mentor Media, Microsoft\'s authorised replicator for fulfilling Windows 7 upgrades. The software licence is supplied free, though there is a $50 fee for postage, handling and materials.
