By Hanleigh Daniels 10 June 2010 | Categories: newsSaatchi & Saatchi AtPlay has launched the African Welcome Travel Diary application for the iPhone 3G and 3G S.
The Engen African Welcome Travel Diary is now available as a free download (1.6 MB) from the iTunes store and will allow users to add photo’s and entries to an interactive diary, share their diary entries with friends on Facebook as well as Twitter, view entries on a map of South Africa and also provide them with an SA urban dictionary.
Tourists visiting South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup will also be able to listen to local greetings, get recipes for SA dishes and have access to helpful travel info including airport info, handy numbers like those for embassies and transportation info. The app can also automatically add numbers to an iPhone contact list and does not require a data connection to work.
According to Allan Kent, head of AtPLay at Saatchi & Saatchi, Cape Town, an African Wave competition has been included with the application for a limited time. “This is a challenge calling on South African’s to get involved and form part of what will hopefully be the biggest digital welcome the world has ever seen.” Kent explains. “There are great prizes to be won.”
