Now, according to Mobile Entertainment, the game's sequel Angry Birds Rio has surpassed ten million downloads in its first ten days since release. The game also went on to become the number one paid app in its first day of sale on Apple's App Store, with the full game also available for free download on Amazon's new Appstore and the Android Marketplace.

The news was announced when developers Rovio posted the cryptic tweet, “10 in 10:-) Angry Birds Rio breaking all records. A massive thanks to all our fans!!!!” This was later confirmed to refer to ten million downloads in ten days.

The game is the latest in the runaway Angry Birds series, with the original recently surpassing the coveted 100 million downloads total.
