Apple released iOS 4.1 Software Update yesterday for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, as well as the second, third and fourth-generation of the iPod touch.

This update features a range of bug fixes, such as for the proximity sensor issues on the iPhone 4 and adds some new functionality as well.

Some of the new functions brought on by iOS 4.1 include high dynamic range (HDR) photography, which enables users to capture high quality photos that captures a wider range of light intensity by making use of the new HDR setting on iPhone 4, which automatically combines multiple exposures into a single HDR image.

Also new is the ability to upload HD video over Wi-Fi using the iPhone 4 to YouTube for instance, iTunes Ping, which is a new music-oriented platform designed to give the company an edge into the profitable social networking market, TV show rentals for your iOS device and the Game Center.

Game Center adds a range of new features to iPhone Gaming, including achievement, worldwide leader boards and the ability to play online with other players from around the world.

Not all the functionality will work with all the devices. Multitasking for example, is only available on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
