Asus has revealed its latest graphics behemoth, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) MARS II, which boasts Dual GeForce GTX 580 graphics processing units (GPUs). The limited-edition card further features 3 GB of GDDR5 video memory, with a proprietary ROG design that combines extreme cooling and extensive tuning facilities. According to the company the new graphics card runs 22% faster than a GeForce GTX 590.

Asus commented that the card’s launch comes at an opportune time for dedicated PC gamers, since it will be followed by the arrival over the upcoming months of several high-profile games that “promise genuine next generation graphics with next generation hardware”. The company asserted that the ROG MARS II will be able to easily run all native DirectX 11 games in resolutions higher than 1080p and detail settings at their maximum levels.

Along with the trademark red-on-black ROG color scheme, the ROG MARS II has twin 120 mm fans that moves up to 600% more air than the GeForce GTX 590 design, while remaining quiet under stress. Asus has also incorporated a Turbo Fan button on the card itself, which allows users to instantly switch the fans to 100% speed for overclocking situations where heat is a factor.

This is further handled with the incorporation of  a solid aluminium ‘shroud’ that conducts heat away more efficiently. The ROG MARS II is bundled with Asus’ GPU Tweak utility, which enables users to directly control the card’s hardware. This offers modification of a range of performance parameters, including clock speeds, voltages and fan speeds, and all of these features are accessible via a clear user interface. A recommended retail price was not as yet made available.
