Apple iPad owners can look forward to reliving their favourite childhood gaming moments, as Atari is reportedly releasing its Atari Arcade Duo-Powered joystick accessory for Apple’s iPad.

According to the product’s image and description link, this device will enable nostalgic gamers to: “Relive the fast-action excitement of all your arcade favorites, like Asteroids, Centipede, and Missile Command.”

Users have to connect their iOS-powered tablet to the device and download Atari's Greatest Hits app for Duo, and they will be ready to enjoy playing gaming classics from the 1970s and ‘80s with family and friends.

According to MacRumors, the Atari Arcade Duo-Powered joystick may offer support for both landscape as well as portrait orientations. Although no further details were provided, the publication stated that it most probably makes use of Bluetooth wireless technology, as opposed to the normal proprietary iPod/iPhone dock connector, similar to Apple’s own Wireless Keyboard for iPad.

More related news from the Apple cart is that local distributor of Apple’s products in Southern Africa, Core Group, recently announced the first official Apple Authorised Reseller of iPad in Namibia. Incredible Connection Windhoek now offers iPad 2 tablets for the starting price of N$4399 (around R4412).
