Did you get your Facebook Username
By Mike Joubert 15 June 2009 | Categories: newsSo did you manage to secure your name in what is called the Facebook “land grab”? Starting the past Saturday at 6am (SA time), Facebook users were able to replace the random digits that usually forms part of a Facebook profile’s URL, with their own name (e.g. www.facebook.com/johndoe). According to Facebook Inc about 3 million people registered their usernames in the first 12 hours of this service. Mashable.com reports that Facebook HQ had to cope with 200,000 people in the first three minutes alone.
There was speculation that the amount of people rushing to get a user name would crash the Facebook servers, but the process went down without any unexpected hick-ups.
If have not registered your name yet you can go to http://www.facebook.com/username/ to see if it is still available.
