Nintendo's highly anticipated 3D-enabled handheld, the 3DS, is launching in Japan this Saturday. To coincide with the launch, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has posted the world's first 3DS game review scores.

Translated by Andriasang and with some math refinement by CVG, the scores are positive for the most part, raising hopes of a solid 3DS launch line-up.

The highly anticipated Super Street Fighter IV 3D scored an impressive 85% with reviewers saying, “Graphics are good. The 3D versus option is a show for the system's 3D, but it can be a bit hard to see. The touch controls are convenient.”

Nintendogs + cats, one of Nintendo's most successful first party titles, went on to score an amazing 95%, with reviewers stating, “The fur is realistic and the wireless elements are good. The game can be enjoyed by anyone.”

Another entry we're personally looking forward to (if it does come to SA) is Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, scoring 80%. We can't wait to try our hand at 3D puzzle solving with reviewers saying, “The puzzle solving doesn't use 3D too much, but investigating a screen with depth feels good. The game is enjoyable in 2D as well.”

Other titles reviewed included Samurai Warriors Chronicles scoring 85%, Winning Eleven 3D Soccer scoring 80%, Puzzle Bobble 3D scoring 60%, Combat of Giants Dinosaur 3D scoring 57.5% and Ridge Racer 3D scoring 80%.

While Japan may be getting their hands on the 3DS this week, South Africans won't have to wait too long for the device, with the 3DS being released locally on the 25th of March, the same day Europe gets it.

Local launch day titles are Pilotwings Resort, Nintendogs + cats, Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Super Monkey Ball 3D, Marvel Super Hero Squad: the Infinity Guardian, Asphalt 3D, Rabbids 3D, Splinter Cell 3D and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars 3D.
