Google Goggles is an Android app that lets you search using pictures rather than words.

Released yesterday, the app cleverly recognises objects in photos taken using your phone’s camera and searches for information on that object via Google. The app is able to recognise landmarks, books, contact information, artwork, places, wine, and logos, with Google working to add more objects.

Google Goggles looks to be particularly useful for tourists looking for a little more info on landmarks, places or pieces of art. Whether it is more convenient than using conventional search when looking for information on books, wines and contacts is questionable however.
