Google has opened a developer’s preview to an upgraded version of its search.

Code named “Caffeine” Google’s new system for web searches was launched on Monday as a separate search page to Google.com. According to Google the preview was launched as a way of garnering feedback on the differences between the current search and the new system.

“Caffeine” looks identical to the current search interface but according to Matt Cutts, a Principal Engineer at Google, “It\'s the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions.”

The new system can be previewed http://www2.sandbox.google.com/
