Sony is set to launch two new Cyber-shot cameras in October 2009, featuring its new Exmor R CMOS sensor.

The DSC-TX1 (image 1) and DSC-WX1 (image 2) feature the new “Exmor R” CMOS sensor which is apparently twice as sensitive to light compared to conventional image sensors. This means that users will be able to snap clearer shots than ever before with a Cyber-shot.

Other interesting features include Hand-held Twilight and Anti Motion Blur. These features allow a user to snap six frames of a single scene at high speed and then superimpose the six into one optimised image. This makes capturing images in low-light or without the use of a tripod far easier.

Both models feature 10.2 megapixel resolution and up to 5x Optical Zoom. The cameras are also able to capture high-definition video at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution at 30 fps in high quality MPEG-4 format.

The slim and stylish DSC-TX1, available in five colours and measuring just 14.1 mm thick, will retail for R4 599. The DSC-WX1, available in three colours, will retail at R4 399.
